Summer Olympic Games & S’mores

The Summer Olympic Games have come to Eagan Pointe!

We’ve organized 5 “Go for the Gold” activities where community members can engage in a little friendly competition and win a gold, silver, or bronze medal. The 3 events we’ve done so far include:

• Olympic Dice Game: We had a tie for gold with Kitty Y. & Mari Sue H.

• Noodle Ball: Contestants used noodles to hit a balloon back and forth between sides, similar to the rules and style of volleyball. The victors were team 2 (“The Sharks” with members Kitty Y & Mary Jo K.) over team 1 (“The Whales” with members Judie B., Evelyn N., and Carol S.) 2-0.

• Bouncing Basket Ball: Contestants were given ping pong balls of a specific color and attempted to bounce as many into a basket as they could, and the person with the most of their color in the basket after 3 rounds was the winner. Linda Z. won gold, Bette R. silver, and Kitty Y. bronze.

Thank you to all our participants and congratulations to our winners! We still have 2 events left so there’s more to come. Good luck to all competitors in the final two games! ????

We were able to do our first bonfire of the season last month.

What better way to enjoy a lovely summer night than having s’mores around the fire and laughing with friends?

State Fair Food Happy Hour & More Summer Fun

With fall just around the corner, we’ve been celebrating the season change with a State Fair food happy hour and other fun summer events at Eagan Pointe. 

Tenants at Eagan Pointe Senior Living recently enjoyed a Happy Hour event as well as samples of Minnesota State Fair foods.

The munchies menu included mini donuts, corn dogs, cheese curds, and deep-fried Snickers on a stick.

These tasty treats made it feel as though we were at the Great Minnesota Get-Together!

Some of the Eagan Pointe Garden Cove tenants recently marked the end of summer with a fun craft. They traced their handprints and used them to create ice cream cone art with help from our Activity Coordinator, Samantha.

We recently had some noteworthy events at Eagan Pointe.

One of our tenants, Millie, experienced a private outdoor concert with friends. The weather was perfect, and so was the music! ?

We also celebrated Taylor’s last day with well-wishes and cake.

Eagan Pointe State Fair & First Day of School

The end of August leads into the end of summer, which means two things around here: the “Great Minnesota Get-Together” and back to school for the kids. To celebrate, we had our Eagan Pointe State Fair event and had our own first day of school photoshoot. Check it out!

We recently hosted our annual “Eagan Pointe State Fair.” The tenants that came were able to play a carnival game, go inside the art building to admire artwork done by other tenants, and, of course, get a taste of all the fried fair foods!

Eagan Pointe tenants were excited for their grandkids and great-grandkids to start the new school year. In celebration, we took our own first day of school photos featuring a little advice for future students!

Alzheimer’s Association Fundraiser BBQ, Volunteering, & More!

We hosted our 5th annual Alzheimer’s Association Fundraiser BBQ on Tuesday, August 13. Each staff department pulled together a basket to raffle off, and our 2019 Queen Donna Gerber graciously chose the raffle winners for us.

Local businesses also donated items to be used as part of a silent auction. Many tenants, family members, and friends joined us for a night full of fun, delicious BBQ food, and fundraising for a great cause! In total, we raised $4,131 for the Alzheimer’s Association.”

Home Health Aid, Tamika, and Eagan Pointe Tenant, Jim K., were enjoying the beautiful summer sun on the community room balcony.

An agency that works with the homeless in Minneapolis reached out to Eagan Pointe for volunteers to roll socks. The tenants of Eagan Pointe took on the challenge and rolled over 1300 pairs of socks in less than 40 minutes!

Eagan Pointe was visited by 60 swing dancers ranging in age from 6th grade to college students. They took advantage of Eagan Pointe’s high ceilings to show off their tricks and dance moves. The tenants loved watching the almost lost art of swing dancing while reminiscing about the good old days when they used to “move like that.”

Workiversary Congratulations and Enjoying S’mores

Eagan Pointe tenants enjoyed an evening of sunshine, bonfire, and s’mores. Many were brought back to their childhood with memories of making s’mores with their families. Everyone was enjoying the sugar rush and beautiful weather!

On of our caregivers, Alison Hellyer, received her “5 Years of Caring” name badge affixed in her favorite donut. It was presented to her at an early morning nursing meeting by Sarah Lewerer, RN. Congratulations, Alison!

Summer Food, Fashion, and Fun at Eagan Pointe

This June, we kicked off the season with a little summer food, fashion, and fun at Eagan Pointe!

Eagan Pointe tenants enjoyed some nice summer weather while sipping cocktails on the patio.

The tenants of Eagan Pointe enjoyed a delightful meal together at Doolittles Woodfire Grill in Eagan. It’s usually an all-female outing, but this time we were lucky enough to have Burt with us. He came with his “cape” on, so we all called him “The King”! Everyone had an amazing time and came back with our bellies full.

Eagan Pointe hosted their semi-annual TaylorMarie’s fashion show. The models of the show are pictured here, left to right: Resident Director Renee, MaryAnn, Mary, Lois, Activity Director Taylor, and Evelyn. The models had so much fun showing off the new spring and summer styles while audience members got to enjoy their peers’ modeling abilities.

The tenants of Eagan Pointe enjoyed reading books with the children from KinderMusik during their weekly visit.

Alzheimer’s BBQ Fundraiser

Eagan Pointe Senior Living held its 4th Annual National Night Out BBQ fundraiser for the Alzheimer’s Association Minnesota-North Dakota. The Eagan Pointe department pitched in and donated a raffle basket of goodies. Residents, family members, friends, and employees all bought tickets to win the raffle baskets at the BBQ. We also enjoyed outdoor games, DJ music, bingo, and delicious food. It was a successful night for fundraising, as well as a fun evening for everyone.

The residents of Eagan Pointe Senior Living enjoyed a wonderful night by the fire and indulged in delicious s’mores. At our fires, we always say “the s’more the merrier!”
